Getting Started: How it Works

We're located on the first floor of the Milstein Center for Teaching and Learning, right between the Digital Humanities Center and Media Center.

Before you arrive

Come with your your files and designs already prepared, and bring any supplies you plan on using to the Center, and if you're curious about where to buy supplies, check out our research guide for more information. But don’t worry--we provide basic materials if you just need to practice on, or learn how to use, a tool or two. However, we expect you to purchase or bring in materials that you'll need to complete your project(s).

Getting Trained

In order to use the space, you’ll need to attend one of our upcoming safety orientations. These run for about an hour and a half, and during them, we’ll cover what you should be mindful of when using our space and tools. Check our calendar to see when upcoming safety orientations are happening.

Using Equipment

All of our equipment is offered on a first-come, first-served basis, so you're welcome to hop on and use tools that are open/available. However, if you'd like to learn a new tool, you can walk in and ask one of our Design Assistants for help. You can also attend workshops that we offer; check our events area (on the homepage) to see what's coming up!
