Khepera Lyons-Clark (she/her) is the Post-Baccalaureate Fellow at Barnard Design Center. She graduated from Barnard College with a BA in Sociology and has a deep commitment to sustainability and climate justice from a racial justice perspective. Khepera's current fellowship project explores her family’s ancestral connection to the land they were enslaved on in Virginia, transforming plant-based materials from that land into bioplastics and textiles to tell stories of climate justice through photography and material art.
Her interest heavily influences her work in upcycling, natural materials, and the intersections of fashion, art, and environmental activism. Ask her about bioplastic experimentation, basket weaving, screen printing, cyanotype, sewing, machine embroidery, dye sublimation printing, laser cutting, and utilizing 3D printers!
