Yisel Garcia (Barnard 2019) is the Design Center Coordinator. She is a performance artist, arts educator, meditation teacher, and zinester. Her teaching approach emphasizes design thinking, curiosity, and celebration. When she isn't at the Design Center, she is developing and facilitating creative events with different organizations in the city, studying dharma, spending time on her art practice, and teaching meditation classes online.
Yisel can help with most tools in the center, but her specialties are: processes within the paper arts (paper marbling, book binding, paper-making), Adobe creative suite, textile arts (knitting, felting, weaving, sewing), 3D printing, laser cutting, CNC file prep, basic woodworking, props and model building, and ideation & design support.️
